"His talent as a soloist rates very high"
Angel Romero (01/10/1987)

Guy Cuyvers studied classical guitar with Victor Van Puyenbroeck at the Royal Flemish Conservatory in Antwerp and subsequently took private lessons with Angel Romero. Awards and recognition soon followed. He was laureate in a masterclass given by José Thomas in 1984 and finalist in Belgian national television’s Tenuto competition one year later. After graduating in Antwerp and supplementing his training in guitar (with John Marlow), advanced composition and orchestra conducting in Washington D.C., Guy received his Master of Arts at the LUCA School of Arts.

During the 1980’s and 1990’s Guy Cuyvers wrote many arrangements for guitar and guitar duo. In 1996 Cadence, his first CD, was released. Highly acclaimed, the record contained several new arrangements of classical masterpieces, among them the first adaptation for classical guitar of Pachelbel’s Canon.

A year later Pablo’s Friends, a book with new compositions for classical guitar students was published. During the following years additional books and compositions were published by Metropolis Music Publishers.
